Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer+ neighbors
right here in Needham, Massachusetts and around the world!
Needham gathers for a "family-sized" celebration to show love for, support of, and pride in our LGBTQ+ neighbors, especially queer families and the youngest among us. Please wear your favorite all ages-friendly Pride outfit and bring your signs of support.
Our celebration will have 3 movements:
RALLY! We'll gather on the lawn at First Parish in Needham to chant, sing, show our signs, wave our flags, and hear from local speakers. Then we'll...
MARCH! down the sidewalk past town common, letting the wider community know that "Needham has Pride!" until we reach the lawn of The Congregational Church, where we'll...
PARTY! Early 20th Century justice activist Emma Goldman is reputed to have said, "If I can't dance, it's not my revolution." Well, this is our revolution, and we will dance... and blow bubbles, share refreshments, do crafts, get temporary tattoos, chalk the sidewalk, engage in advocacy, and take photos together. We'll enjoy our Pride, because joy gives us the power to make change!

The Perfectly Credible Tale of
St. Marinos the Monk, or "We Have Always Been Here" Sunday, 6/30 @ 10am, LIVE! onsite & online via Zoom Connection info at www.NeedhamUCC.org Marina was born in 5th Century Lebanon and assigned female at birth. When, after their mother died, their dad decided to enter a monastery, Marina went with him—as a man, Brother Marinos. But one day, he was unjustly accused of a crime he could not have committed and expelled from the community. It was only upon his death that the world learned the truth about Marinos: Lesbian, gay, and bisexual, queer, transgender and non-binary folk have always been here and always will, part of God’s marvelously diverse design for life. |
